Introduction

If your online wanderings have led you to this particular corner of the internet, you’re most likely involved with Dr. David Gunkel’s Communication Technology (COMS 647) course at Northern Illinois University, a fan of memes, gingers, or South Park, or completely lost. Since the latter is just plain cheesy, (as is this introduction), it is more likely the former rather than the median. Simply put, this web page is an autopsy, but with less blood and bones, though we do discover the “guts” of how memes in the digital age are spread throughout the consciences by way of media convergence.
